Dragon Tree

The origins of furniture polish can be far and wide. But one of the few known facts that even Tenerife Estate Agents may not know about, is that the sap from the Sangre de Drago ( Dragon Tree), which can be found in Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, was used as a colourant for polish as well as a varnish for iron tools. It was also used by the Guanche people of the Canary Islands for mummification purposes.

Original natives of the islands processed the sap which was thought to contain various medicinal and magical properties and even today, the "Dragon´s Blood" as it is more commonly known, is still used to produce a hard, shiny furniture polish.
